According to reports, Arsenal is willing to terminate Nicolas Pepe’s contract if they are unable to find any buyers for the Ivory Coast attacker during the current transfer window.
Pepe, who joined the Gunners in a record-breaking deal from Lille in 2019, has failed to live up to his £72m price tag and has struggled to secure game time due to the emergence of younger players.
He spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Nice, where he scored eight goals in 28 games but was also plagued by injuries.
With Arsenal’s return to the Champions League without Pepe, the club is reportedly looking to sell him ahead of the 2023-24 season and is willing to take a significant loss on the initial transfer fee.
However, if no suitable bids arrive, the Gunners may consider terminating his contract, although this would be a last resort.
Pepe’s contract with Arsenal runs until the end of next season.
