Gabriel Jesus is back in full Arsenal training ahead of Thursday’s Europa League first-leg clash against Sporting Lisbon, as the Gunners belatedly prepare to welcome their £45 million summer signing back into action.
The Brazilian centre-forward had been out of action for over three months after suffering a knee injury following the World Cup, leaving Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli to lead the line in his absence.
Mikel Arteta has yet to confirm whether Jesus will feature against Sporting, however, with the 25-year-old reportedly still slowly being eased back into training sessions.
Thursday could be too soon for Jesus’ return –or even for team-mate Leandro Trossard– but Arsenal are optimistic that Jesus could make some sort of return at home to Leeds United on April 1st – if not sooner.
Meanwhile, Sporting are without midfield regular Manuel Ugarte due to suspension, while Hector Bellerin could face his former club depending on how fit he is.
However, Kieran Tierney is expected to miss out on this trip due to illness.
