Arsenal to respond to missing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk with double swoop

Arsenal have been urged to make two more signings this month if they are to remain in the title race following the news that Chelsea are set to beat them to the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Gunners had offered a third offer for the 22-year-old Ukrainian winger but Chelsea appear to have seized control with an £88 million bid.

This now means that Arsenal will need strength in depth both offensively and defensively, as former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has pointed out.

He noted that while Eddie Nketiah can score goals, they will still need an out-and-out number nine such as Mudryk.

In midfield, recent injury problems have made it clear why the Gunners need additional cover for Thomas Partey, who ultimately adds solidity and protection from those further forward.

Arsenal bid for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz late in the window however their £25million offer was declined and Edu and Mikel Arteta must now look elsewhere even further as they head into what could be a crucial winter transfer window.
