Former Premier League midfielder Arthur Melo was reportedly robbed in broad daylight while visiting Barcelona.
The incident took place at around 4 pm on Passeig de Gracia, a well-known shopping street. Melo was paying for parking when two individuals, one on a motorbike, approached him.
According to Marca, one of the assailants snatched Melo’s luxury watch before both fled the scene quickly.
Melo, who now plays for Girona in LaLiga on loan from Juventus, was unharmed and immediately reported the robbery to the police.
The 28-year-old was in Barcelona for some time off and was out shopping at the time. He is said to have resumed training on Friday and is expected to play for Girona in their upcoming match against Alaves on Saturday.
This isn’t the first time the Brazilian has been targeted in a robbery. Back in 2019, two burglars broke into his home in Barcelona, where they threatened his brother with a weapon and stole valuables, including a Rolex.
Arthur Melo’s career has taken him on several loan spells, including time at Liverpool, Fiorentina, and now Girona. He has also earned 22 caps for Brazil.
