Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has filed a request with the Presidential Election Petition Court to be declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election.
Atiku argues that the announced winner, Bola Tinubu, is not qualified to contest the election due to a criminal forfeiture order, allegiance to another country, acquisition of citizenship of another country, and presenting a forged certificate.
Atiku also claims that Tinubu’s victory was invalidated due to non-compliance with electoral laws regarding the electronic transmission of results.
In his final address, Atiku emphasizes that INEC’s assertion that he won in 21 states was not disputed or retracted during the proceedings.
He urges the tribunal to uphold his declaration as the winner of the election.
Atiku further states that the fact that no presidential election has been nullified by the courts in Nigeria before should not prevent them from doing so now if it is just.
