The coalition movement involving Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai is gaining momentum as plans for the 2027 elections move forward, NaijNaira can report.

According to Leadership, the coalition has now appointed key leaders across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones to strengthen its regional structures.

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, will take charge of the North East zone.

David Mark, former Senate President, has been named the leader for the North Central zone.

Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, will oversee the North West zone’s coalition activities.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, will lead the South East operations.

Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, will coordinate efforts in the South South region.

Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior, is expected to head the South West zone, subject to final confirmation.

The coalition is still deciding whether to join an existing political party like the Social Democratic Party, SDP, or the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Some members prefer forming a new party to avoid conflicts over party control within established platforms.

There are also concerns that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has allegedly declined to process requests from groups seeking party registration.

The coalition’s official party platform is expected to be announced soon.

A source close to the group said, “The postings are provisional and may be subject to further adjustments.”
