Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has revealed he is in talks with prominent contenders Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi of New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) and Labour Party (LP), respectively, for possible support ahead of the February 25 election.

During an interview with BBC Hausa service on Tuesday, Atiku stressed that both Kwankwaso and Obi do not pose any threat to his presidential ambitions.

He added that there is still ongoing dialogue with the G5 governors and expressed confidence that their current positions will not affect his chances in the polls.

“Most are neither in PDP nor in other parties and definitely, that will not make us lose the election because we are okay with the election preparations for now,” he said.

The former Vice-President further noted that unlike before, elections are no longer a game of dictation where a governor determines who gets what votes but rather a power vested firmly in the hands of voters.
