The race to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is heating up ahead of next week’s January transfer deadline, as Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in the Ecuador international.

Arsenal made an official bid last Friday, which was reportedly valued at £60million, but it was swiftly turned down by Brighton.

Chelsea have also been tipped to make a move for Caicedo who is believed to be keen on leaving the club this month.

However, Brighton may end up keeping hold of him until the transfer window slams shut due to their need for finding a replacement before being able to sell.

Additionally, RB Leipzig playmaker Amadou Haidara has caught their attention but as his current club are challenging for the Bundesliga title, they are unwilling to let him go with such limited time left.

This makes it difficult for Arsenal and Chelsea to get their hands on Caicedo unless Brighton manage to pick up another midfielder soon.

Liverpool have joined in the race as well after former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson publically urged them to do so if they don’t want the 21-year-old ending up somewhere else due his age and abilities that usually provide bite in midfield yet lack within Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
