Touted as a long-term project, it has been reported that Potter is admired for his work behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge: including ‘excellent’ training and analytics, plus collaboration with board members on key decisions (e.g., excluding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Champions League squad).
The 47-year-old’s selfless call to rest stars such as Reece James, Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling has also won him thanks from the club’s owners.
Additionally, while he may appear stoic on the touchline, reports suggest Potter is more expressive of his disappointment when not visible to the public.
Owners Simpson and Eghbali are said to understand their envisioned redevelopment of the squad will require patience; they’re cognizant reassembleing Chelsea into championship contenders could take three transfer windows.
