The Manchester City midfielder scored two goals in the first half, becoming only the third player to achieve this feat in a Champions League semi-final game against Real Madrid.
Messi scored a brace in the first leg of the 2010-11 semi-final, while Lewandowski bagged four goals in the first leg of the 2012-13 semi-finals.
Silva’s left-footed effort at the near post and a header in the 23rd and 37th minute respectively gave Pep Guardiola’s side the lead at the Etihad.
