On September 20, the number of Justices of the Court of Appeal will increase by nine as they are sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

However, the Supreme Court will see a reduction in the number of judicial officers, as Justice Amina Augie will retire on September 21.

This will leave the court with a total of 11 Justices, instead of the 21 provided for in the Constitution.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new Justices of the Court of Appeal will take place at 11:00 am in the Main Court auditorium of the Supreme Court.

The nine new Justices include individuals from various states in Nigeria, who have previously served as High Court Judges.

Meanwhile, Justice Amina Adamu Augie will retire from the Supreme Court Bench on September 21, 2023, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.

She has had a distinguished career, graduating with a Second Class Upper Division in Law and being called to the Nigerian Bar in 1978.
