Airtel Africa, a telecommunications and mobile money services provider in 14 African countries, has named Carl Cruz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Networks Limited (Nigeria).
Cruz, who has over 31 years of business and corporate experience in Africa and Asia, will also join the Executive Committee as the Regional Operating Director, reporting to Airtel Africa Group CEO Segun Ogunsanya and the Board of Airtel Networks Limited (Nigeria).
Cruz’s most recent position was as CEO and Managing Director of Unilever in West Africa, overseeing three listed operating companies in Nigeria, Ghana, and Francophone Africa.
He has also held leadership roles in Unilever Philippines, Hindustan Unilever India, and Unilever Sri Lanka.
Ogunsanya praised Cruz’s strategic and transformational leadership skills and his ability to build strong teams to deliver business growth.
