Instructions on How to Report Unauthorised POS Sales of New Naira Notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is urging members of the public to report any Point of Sales (POS) operators selling new naira notes or those charging exorbitantly for cash withdrawals.

Joseph Omayuku, Director of CBN Governor’s Department, made this known in Yenagoa during a briefing with journalists.

He warned syndicates engaging in illegal practices to desist immediately and advised citizens to report such activities by contacting the CBN contact centre on 07002255226; Telephone Ext: 711025 – 7; contactcbn@cbn.gov.ng, or through its social media platforms.

In addition, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele recently declared that an extension of the February 10 deadline for redesigned N200, N500 and N1, 000 notes is unnecessary and that PoS agents who impose heavy charges on customers will be penalized accordingly.
