Eric Chelle says his Nigeria team will shock those who have already dismissed their chances in the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifiers – www.naijnaira.com reports.

The Super Eagles sit fourth in Group C with just seven points after six matches, trailing leaders South Africa who are on 13.

Nigeria’s journey so far has been rocky, with only two victories recorded, including a 2-0 win against Rwanda in Kigali and a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in Uyo.

Before Chelle took over, both Jose Peseiro and Finidi George handled two games each but failed to deliver a single win.

“People have already written us off. But I am not bothered by that,” Chelle declared when asked about the team’s current struggles.

The coach stressed that his focus is on preparing the players to approach each of the four remaining games with maximum effort.

“I think that we are going to surprise a lot of people,” Chelle added confidently as the campaign enters its decisive stage.

Nigeria will regroup in Uyo on September 1 before hosting Rwanda on September 6, then travel to Bloemfontein to face South Africa three days later.

The group will close with trips to Lesotho and a home fixture against Benin in October, matches that could define Nigeria’s qualification hopes.

Rwanda and Benin currently sit ahead of Nigeria on eight points each, while a pending decision on South Africa’s alleged ineligible player could alter the table.
