According to the PA news agency, Chelsea is currently in talks with Mauricio Pochettino to become their new manager at the end of the season.
Although a deal has not yet been finalized, Pochettino is reportedly close to accepting the position, which would be his first since leaving Paris St Germain in July.
The club hopes to have their new boss in place before the start of the next campaign.
Chelsea has had a disappointing season, currently sitting in 11th place with only 11 wins in 35 league games.
After sacking Graham Potter in April, the club turned to Frank Lampard to see out the rest of the season.
However, Lampard has also struggled, overseeing a six-game losing run at one point.
If Pochettino is appointed, he will inherit an expensively assembled but under-performing squad that will not be competing in Europe next season.
Pochettino previously managed Tottenham for five years, leading them to the Champions League final in 2019.
