Chelsea may be choosing to ditch their pursuit of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, given the enormous price tag associated with him.
This decision may subsequently lead them to re-sign former blue Tammy Abraham from Roma.
Since 2020 and the takeover of Todd Boehly, Chelsea have spent more than €500 million on new signings – though they haven’t seen much success since Graham Potter took charge of the team.
In particular, their attack has been uninspiring, as evidenced by their meager total of just four goals in eleven games this year.
Therefore, it makes sense that the Blues have been looking to bring in another attacker during summer transfer window.
Whilst they’ve expressed interest in Napoli marksman Osimhen, reports suggest they may avoid signing him due to costly nature of such a move – being priced at over €100million.
Alternatively, Chelsea could look towards formerly signed Abraham for a cheaper deal costing €70.5million.
However, although relatively inexpensive when put in comparison to Osimhen’s fee, there is little evidence that suggests he would outperform or offer more than other attackers currently linked with the club; having scored only six goals in 24 Serie A appearances for Roma this season so far.
