Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has received approval for his work permit, bringing him one step closer to making his competitive debut for the club.
Santos had initially been denied a work permit in January but has now been cleared to play in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old Brazilian has been training with the squad under manager Mauricio Pochettino since July and is currently in Philadelphia for the Premier League Summer Series.
While it is unclear if Santos will be part of Pochettino’s first-team plans after pre-season, he has a chance to secure a place in the squad and avoid being loaned out.
Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama for £18 million in the January transfer window, choosing the club over Newcastle.
