Chukwuemeka Obi, younger brother of Manchester United forward Chido Obi, has earned his first Denmark U17 national team call-up following a new contract with West Ham United, NaijNaira can report.
According to AllNigeriaSoccer.com, Denmark U17 head coach Morten Corlin included Chukwuemeka in the squad for upcoming Scandinavian friendlies.
The 16-year-old forward, born to Nigerian parents, began his youth journey at Arsenal before moving to West Ham at U15 level.
He recently signed a scholarship deal after progressing through West Ham’s academy ranks.
Chukwuemeka made his U18 Premier League debut earlier this year, playing the final 12 minutes in a 3-1 loss to his former club, Arsenal.
His performance last season for the Hammers’ U16 side caught attention, scoring 17 goals across competitions.
“He’s got strength, awareness and a natural instinct in front of goal,” said one academy coach familiar with his progress.
Chukwuemeka now joins Denmark’s U17 squad for matches against Norway, Finland and Sweden, scheduled from June 30 to August 6.
Also named is Ekene Chukwuani, younger brother of Tochi Chukwuani, who played for Denmark at multiple youth levels, including the recent U21 European Championship.
