FIFA has recently announced that Canada, Mexico and the USA have all been confirmed to receive automatic berths at the 2026 World Cup.
The tournament will be hosted jointly by these three nations and will involve an extended number of teams – 48 in total.
Out of those, only three slots are allocated to the CONCACAF region besides the host countries; meaning that those spots must come from other conferences.
As concluded in a recent statement released by FIFA, “the hosts…will qualify automatically for the final round of the competition,” hence their assigned slots having been deducted from the overall CONCACAF allocation.
