Cristiano Ronaldo and several former Manchester United teammates have sent heartfelt messages to Nani after the 38-year-old announced his retirement from football.
Nani made his name at Manchester United, joining the club in 2007 for £21 million from Sporting Clube de Portugal, coinciding with Ronaldo’s arrival.
Over his eight years at Old Trafford, Nani made 230 appearances, winning four Premier League titles, the Champions League, a Club World Cup, two Carabao Cups, and four Community Shields.
After leaving United in 2015, he continued his career at Fenerbahce before recently playing for Estrela da Amadora in the Primeira Liga, making ten appearances and scoring once this season.
Nani took to Instagram to announce his retirement, posting a video with the caption “The time has come to say goodbye. I have made the decision to end my career as a professional player. It’s been an incredible journey, and I want to thank everyone who supported me through the highs and lows of a career that spanned over 20 years and gave me countless unforgettable memories.
