David de Gea is heading back to Old Trafford this weekend, but this time he’ll be in Fiorentina colors – www.naijnaira.com reports.
After more than 500 games in a Manchester United shirt, De Gea left quietly in 2023 when his contract ended, stepping away from football for a year.
Now 34, the goalkeeper found form again in Serie A with Fiorentina and is set to feature in their final pre-season match against his former club.
The match will wrap up United’s summer preparations and serve as a reunion with the man who protected their goal for over a decade.
Bruno Fernandes recorded a video message ahead of the game and didn’t hold back his excitement.
“David, my friend… can’t wait to see you,” said Bruno. “Hope you enjoy being back at your home—but I also hope I score against you.”
Fiorentina already played Leicester and Forest in friendlies during their UK visit, with De Gea starting and keeping a clean sheet against Forest.
Though he’s now an opponent, fans are expected to give De Gea a proper welcome back at the stadium where he built his name.
