Deadline Day Report: Chelsea looking to hijack Arsenal bid for ‘strong’ midfielder

With their current midfielders nearing the end of their contracts, the Blues have been eyeing this 21-year-old midfielder over recent months.

Chelsea are planning to swoop in and take Moises Caicedo away from Arsenal on the last day of the transfer window.

According to 90min, Chelsea have had their eye 21-year-old midfielder throughout the window and have been in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blues could potentially offer a fee of more than £75 million to try and lure Caicedo away from the Seagulls. Earlier this month, Chelsea tried but failed to agree upon a deal.

With Arsenal also competing for the young Ecuadorian’s signature, it looks as if it will go right down to the wire as far as deciding who he will end up joining.

Over his time at Brighton & Hove Albion, Caicedo has made 21 appearances in all competitions, including 18 in the Premier League.

His defensive play has been solid while providing moments of attacking threat at times too.

While Jorginho has been linked with a move to rivals Arsenal, if that comes to fruition then signing a new midfielder is going to be essential for Chelsea if they want any hope of making top six this season and Moises Caicedo could be just the man for them.
