Nollywood star Dele Odule, a beloved figure in the Yoruba film scene, recently shared why he sticks to acting instead of producing his own movies. According to an interview with Oyinmomo, Dele admits that producing films hasn’t been his cup of tea — mainly because handling money is not his strong suit.
The actor explained that producing is a business that demands sharp money management skills, which he says he just doesn’t have. “A good producer must know how to manage money, and I don’t know how to do that,” he confessed.
Though Dele has produced around 10 films over the years, he’s not even sure if any made a profit. “If you ask me about the master copies of those films today, I honestly don’t know where they are,” he joked. That pretty much says it all!
But don’t count him out just yet — Dele said he’d be interested in producing a film for Netflix or cinemas if the right chance comes along. “I wouldn’t do anything less than that,” he added.
On a more serious note, Dele also revealed that he was redlisted from acting for two years. He believes it happened because some people saw him as a threat and tried to stop him by blackmailing him.
It’s clear Dele Odule’s passion still lies in acting, where he feels most confident and comfortable — and fans can’t wait to see what he does next.
