On June 1st, President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila at the presidential villa in Abuja.
The purpose of the meeting was not disclosed, but it took place ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on June 13th.
According to Vanguard, Lawan used the opportunity to update Tinubu on the situation regarding the APC National Working Committee’s zoning formula.
The meeting reportedly opened Tinubu’s eyes to the fact that he may have been misinformed or given distorted information.
The source also alleged that Gbajabiamila is using similar tactics to those he used to secure the positions of Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abass to corner Tinubu into another box.
Despite rumors that Lawan is aspiring for the position of the 10th Senate President, he has denied these claims and stated that the next leader of the Red Chamber will be determined by national interest.
