The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has cautioned Kano Governor Abba Yusuf against diverting his attention from delivering good governance to the people by attempting to tarnish his name.

This comes after the Kano State Government filed criminal charges against Ganduje, accusing him of bribery involving $413,000 and N1.38bn.

Ganduje’s successor, Abba Yusuf, had accused him of misappropriating public funds and allocating land to his family members upon assuming office in 2023.

In response, the state government revealed that it had gathered 15 witnesses to testify against Ganduje. The charge sheet also listed his wife, Hafsat, his son, Umar, and several others as defendants.

Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, issued a statement on his behalf, dismissing the bribery allegations as an attempt to divert attention from the lack of progress in the state. ‘

He criticized the governor for his disregard for the rule of law and stated that the recent pronouncement by the Federal High Court in Kano ruled that the alleged offense falls under federal jurisdiction and should be prosecuted by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Ganduje urged the Kano State Government to focus on improving the lives of the people instead of engaging in baseless accusations.

He reminded them of his accomplishments during his tenure and encouraged them to emulate his blueprint for sustainable growth and development. He emphasized that there is still an opportunity for the current administration to rectify the situation and prioritize the welfare of the people.
