The Federal Government has announced Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as nationwide public holidays to mark the Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the announcement was made by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, on behalf of the Federal Government on Monday, June 2.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations to all Muslims in Nigeria and abroad as they prepare for one of Islam’s holiest festivals.
“The Federal Government has declared Friday, 6th, and Monday, 9th June, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration,” the statement read.
Interior Minister Encourages Reflection and Prayer
The Interior Ministry Nigeria used the opportunity to call on Muslim faithful to uphold the spirit of sacrifice and faith displayed by Prophet Ibrahim. The Minister also urged citizens to pray for national peace and prosperity during the festivities.
He called on Nigerians to use the occasion of the Eid-ul-Adha public holiday Nigeria to reflect on unity, dedication, and the common good.
Support for Government Reforms
While making the declaration, Dr. Tunji-Ojo reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to national reforms. He pointed to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a framework for promoting development and improving the well-being of Nigerians.
He emphasized that the people-centered approach of President Bola Tinubu’s administration is focused on long-term national stability and growth.
