Elon Musk has reversed his decision to implement a permanent dark mode for Twitter (now X).
Previously, Musk had announced that the microblogging platform would only support dark mode in the future, stating that it was better in every way.
However, Musk later clarified that while dark mode would be the default option, the ability to dim the brightness and switch to a dark blue background would be removed.
This decision faced opposition from some users who preferred the light theme.
Despite the aesthetic appeal of dark mode and its benefits for nighttime or low-light usage, it may cause discomfort for individuals with astigmatism and dyslexia.
Users can change the theme on the Twitter website by accessing the settings and display options.
These developments occurred as part of Twitter’s rebranding to X, which involved a new logo and domain.
However, the rebranding may face trademark complications with Meta and Microsoft owning the “X” trademark for social media and video games, respectively.
