Former Super Eagles manager Finidi George has questioned Bright Osayi-Samuel’s decision to join Birmingham City from Turkish side Fenerbahçe, NaijNaira can report. The 27-year-old defender recently signed a three-year contract with the English Championship club after turning down a renewal offer from the Istanbul giants.

In a conversation with Footy Africa, Finidi shared his thoughts on the move.

“I really do not know his motive for not renewing with Fenerbahçe and going back to England,” he said.
“Players should be aiming high while they still have the energy and age on their side to play at the highest level.”

Osayi-Samuel had been a consistent starter under multiple managers at Fenerbahçe, making his switch to a second-tier side surprising to many in the Nigerian football scene.

Despite his concerns, Finidi dismissed worries that the move would impact the defender’s Super Eagles role.

“He has demonstrated that he can play and fits in properly, giving his best anytime he is called upon,” he added.

The Nigerian international remains part of Eric Chelle’s plans as the team targets World Cup qualification and a competitive run at the 2025 AFCON.
