Following differences prior to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries in 2022, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was absent from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign rallies across the country.
Osinbajo, who served as Attorney General of Lagos State while Tinubu was Governor of the state, endured a frosty relationship with some staunch supporters of Tinubu such as Joe Igbokwe and Special Adviser for Drainage and Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who referred to the Vice President as a traitor for daring to stand against his political godfather.
Festus Keyamo, the spokesman of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign, stated that Osinbajo’s absence was due to Buhari’s directive for both Osinbajo and Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha to stay off APC presidential campaigns.
