A tragic accident occurred in Lagos on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of a commercial bus driver after his vehicle collided with a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle and somersaulted.
The incident took place on the Ifako Bridge towards Ogudu on the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway in Lagos.
According to witnesses, the fully loaded commercial bus was en route from Lagos Island to the Ojodu Berger area when the accident occurred.
Sadly, the driver did not survive, and his body was found beside the overturned bus.
In response to the news of the driver’s death, some individuals in the area set the BRT bus on fire, causing a traffic jam that extended to the Car Wash bus stop area between Gbagada and Oworonshoki.
The Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, Adebayo Taofik, confirmed the accident and stated that LASTMA officers were present to manage the traffic and clear the road for commuters.
