Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), Gloria Izonfuo, has been released after her abduction last Sunday.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the news on Friday.

The former Head of Service in Bayelsa State was abducted at the Ogbakiri junction in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State while returning from a trip to Brass, Bayelsa State, with her driver and maid.

It is yet unclear whether the driver and maid have also been released.

Following Mrs Izonfuo’s abduction, the police immediately launched an investigation into the incident.

While the circumstances surrounding her release remain unclear, the police are continuing their investigations to apprehend the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
