Firmino rescues Liverpool with late equalizer against Aston Villa

Liverpool’s hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League were kept alive by Roberto Firmino’s late equalizer against Aston Villa.

With one game remaining, Liverpool are three points behind Newcastle United and Manchester United, who only need one point from their final two games to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

Firmino’s goal, scored in the 89th minute, was a crucial one, as it keeps Liverpool’s chances mathematically possible.

The visitors will be disappointed not to have claimed all three points after an impressive display, which included a missed penalty by Ollie Watkins.

Villa, who missed out on going sixth as a result of the late equalizer, maintain their European aspirations by moving up to seventh after the draw.
