Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged as the frontrunner to become Leicester City‘s next manager following the sacking of Steve Cooper.
Cooper was dismissed after a poor start to the season, securing only two wins in his 12-game tenure, with the club sitting 16th in the Premier League and winless in their last four matches.
Van Nistelrooy had a brief but successful stint as interim manager of Manchester United, including two victories over Leicester, and is now being linked with the King Power Stadium job.
The Dutchman is reportedly eager to return to a top-flight managerial role, with various Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Southampton, facing managerial pressure.
Before being linked with Leicester, Van Nistelrooy had also been considered for the vacant Coventry City position, though Frank Lampard now seems to be the leading candidate for that role.
Van Nistelrooy’s potential move to Leicester could see him face his former club Manchester United, as the two sides are scheduled to meet in March.
There are also rumors linking Van Nistelrooy with a return to German football, with Hamburger SV reportedly considering him as a replacement for Steffen Baumgart.
