Less than 24 hours after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from Manchester United was confirmed, the Portuguese superstar has received his first official transfer offer.
Ronaldo’s sudden departure from Old Trafford was confirmed in a short statement from the club less than a week after the full airing of his explosive, unsanctioned interview with Piers Morgan.
The 37-year-old has now left United, via mutual consent, with “immediate effect” – meaning the striker is now free to join another club whenever he wishes.
Although Ronaldo is unlikely to resolve his domestic future while Portugal are still at the World Cup, the former Juventus star has received his first offer since leaving United.
AFC Crewe of the 14th tier Crewe and District League Premier Division have jokingly shared their desire to snare the five-time Ballon d’Or winner – and they’re even prepared to break the bank to do so.
The non-league minnows tweeted : “We can confirm that the club has made an official approach to sign free agent Cristiano Ronaldo on a one year deal. Should Cristiano accept the offer, he would become AFC Crewe’s highest paid player, taking home £35 per week.”
While it seems unlikely that Ronaldo will take AFC Crewe up on their generous offer, the veteran forward will be hopeful of sorting his future sooner rather than later.
