In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the sports world, an Indonesian footballer lost his life after being struck by lightning during a friendly match.
The incident occurred at the Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung, West Java, during a match between 2 FLO FC Bandung and FBI Subang. The 35-year-old male footballer, identified as Septain Raharja from Subang, collapsed on the field after being hit by the lightning.
Witnesses described the scene as players and teams observed a moment of silence to honor the fallen athlete. The harrowing moment was captured on video, further amplifying the shock and disbelief among fans.
According to reports, Raharja was still breathing after the incident and was immediately rushed to a local hospital. However, despite efforts to save him, he tragically succumbed to his injuries, which included intense burns caused by the lightning strike.
The incident took place around 4:20 pm local time on Saturday, with Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stating that the lightning struck Raharja from a cloud just 300 meters above the stadium.
