Gary Lineker Exits BBC's FA Cup Coverage, Alex Scott Takes Over

Gary Lineker has withdrawn from presenting the BBC’s coverage of Brighton vs Grimsby Town in the FA Cup due to illness – Alex Scott will now step into his place.

This marks Lineker’s return to the BBC since he was temporarily suspended after tweeting criticism of the Government’s bill on illegal migrants.

The BBC initially described Lineker having a “voice issue,” with many viewers noting the presenter’s noticeable difficulties while hosting Manchester City’s victory against Burnley on Saturday.

In solidarity with Lineker, Scott refused to host last Saturday’s Football Focus, leading to agreement between the BBC and him for him to resume work.

Following this resolution, both Alan Shearer and Ian Wright – who usually accompany Lineker on MOTD – are returning to their roles.

When addressing everyone who showed support for him during his dispute with the broadcaster, Lineker spoke about how proud he is to work under such an organisation before asserting that people’s difficult experiences pale in comparison to those seeking refuge from war or persecution.
