The election of Godswill Akpabio, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, as the 10th National Assembly Senate President has sparked mixed reactions.
Akpabio, who defeated Abdulaziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara state, in a closely contested election, received 63 votes while Yari scored 46 votes.
As the anointed candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpabio will succeed the immediate past Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan.
However, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to express their varying opinions on Akpabio’s emergence as the third most powerful person in the country.
