Pep Guardiola revealed the humorous reason he denied Erling Haaland a chance to score a double hat-trick in Manchester City’s overwhelming victory over RB Leipzig.
Whilst Haaland had become just the third man to achieve a five-goal haul and broke several records in the process, Guardiola jokingly stated that if Haaland achieved such a milestone at 22, 23 years of age then it would be “boring” for him and his life wouldn’t have any targets to strive for.
Furthermore, Guardiola praised the young striker’s ability to assist defensively as well as attack and work hard throughout the game.
He also highlighted how quickly City needed to break down RB Leipzig’s holding midfielder in order to develop more attacking opportunities.
