Joshua Olusanya trumpet record, longest trumpet marathon, Guinness World Record Nigeria

Joshua Olusanya, popularly known as Trumpet Influencer, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for the longest marathon playing the trumpet. His 25-hour, 30-minute, and 36-second performance has earned him a spot in the record books, making him the latest Nigerian to gain global recognition for musical endurance.

According to Guinness World Records, the feat was achieved during a public performance held from May 9 to May 10, 2025, at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos. This followed a previous attempt in February 2024, which was disqualified due to a brief pause to drink water — a violation of the record’s strict guidelines.

The official confirmation email from GWR read, “Dear Joshua Olusanya, we are thrilled to inform you that your application for Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!”

Trumpet Record Confirmed After Earlier Setback

Olusanya took to Instagram to celebrate the moment, using the handle @officialbossboss, where he thanked supporters who stood by him through the disqualification and retrial.

“Official! I’m honoured to announce that I’ve set the first-ever Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Playing the Trumpet! A dream we collectively fought for. Thank you, Nigeria! We made history together,” he posted.

The musician’s previous attempt on February 23, 2024, lasted 24 hours and 46 minutes. However, Guinness World Records disqualified that effort for breaking performance continuity — an essential rule in endurance-based categories. The GWR response stated that while food and drink can be consumed, the action must not interrupt the performance.

Despite that setback, Olusanya was undeterred. He meticulously planned a second attempt with careful adherence to the rules. This time, every second counted.

Beyond achieving a personal goal, Joshua Olusanya says the marathon was aimed at raising the profile of instrumental musicians in Nigeria. He also wants to encourage music education and inspire upcoming talents across the country.
