Asisat Oshoala, a forward for the Super Falcons, has made history by becoming the first African female footballer to reach 1 million followers on Instagram.
The 28-year-old gained attention recently when she scored the third goal in a 3-2 victory against Australia at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Oshoala’s celebration, which involved taking off her shirt, sparked a social media debate and ultimately led to an increase in her Instagram following.
Despite her success, Oshoala revealed that her father was not happy with her choice of celebration.
Nevertheless, her post on Instagram has received over 200,000 likes and 11,000 comments, with some celebrities appealing to her father to forgive her.
Oshoala is also a five-time winner of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Player of the Year award.
