Chibuike Amaechi has declared his determination to end what he described as a pattern of rigged elections in Rivers State, calling on his followers to confront and resist any attempt to manipulate the 2027 general polls, www.naijnaira.com reports.
While speaking during a road rally through Port Harcourt, Amaechi claimed that election results in Rivers have often been falsified—a trend he says must stop. In a recent update, he urged his supporters to challenge what he called “election merchants” and prevent them from undermining democracy again.
Now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), after recently exiting the All Progressives Congress (APC), the former minister said the ruling party has lost its way. “If you are not hungry, I am hungry. It’s hard surviving in Nigeria, yet the President doesn’t care,” he told the crowd.
He said his defection aims to work with others who want to change the country’s direction and address widespread poverty. “Rivers people must vote out this government or risk starving,” he warned.
The ADC, which now serves as the opposition’s primary political platform, also welcomed Amaechi officially through its national treasurer, Kelvin Alagoa, who attended the event.
