On June 23, a parade was held at Mogadishu Cantonment in Asokoro, Abuja to officially mark the pull-out of the immediate past Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya from the Nigerian Army.

The event included a march past by officers of the Nigerian Army and was attended by the current Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, representatives of other service agencies, and Faruk’s Regular Course mates.

Lt-Gen Yahaya began his cadet training in 1985 and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps in 1990

He has held various appointments, including Staff, Instructional, and Command, and was previously the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, responsible for Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency operations in North East Nigeria before being appointed as the 22nd COAS.
