The Indigenous People of Biafra has reacted to the conviction of Simon Ekpa in Finland, stressing that he has never been part of its movement – www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to IPOB’s media team, the separatist based in Finland has often tried to create confusion by presenting himself as connected to the group.
The statement, obtained from Sahara Reporters, emphasized that both IPOB and Ekpa confirmed under oath in a Finnish courtroom that he has no ties to the movement.
“The record is clear, IPOB testified that Simon Ekpa has never held any position in IPOB or ESN,” the spokesperson stated.
The group reminded the public that Ekpa admitted in court that he was only a content creator and not a member of its structure.
IPOB accused him of creating fake groups and initiatives that operate outside its principles.
It further explained that IPOB is registered under international law and remains committed to non-violence and lawful self-determination.
The organisation urged global stakeholders, including the EU, UK, UN, US, and Finland, to ensure that Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing trial in Nigeria is handled fairly.
“The Finnish court has already clarified that IPOB is not linked to Simon Ekpa, and we expect that this should not be misrepresented,” IPOB added.
