Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, has filed a libel suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

In the suit, Alison-Madueke alleges that the EFCC and AGF published false and defamatory reports about her on the agency’s website and other news sites, accusing her of being a corrupt and dishonest public officer.

She claims that these publications have smeared her integrity and character, which are of paramount importance to the success of her political endeavours.

Alison-Madueke is seeking a retraction of the publications, an unreserved apology in three national newspapers, and an order to restrain the defendants from further distributing similar offensive materials.

Additionally, she is seeking damages of N100 billion for the false, injurious, malicious, and libelous publications against her on the EFCC’s publishing platform, and at the instance of both the agency and the AGF.

The writ of summons was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by Mike Ozekhome (SAN).
