Liverpool prepare £3.5m-a-year contract for Morocco international at Qatar World Cup

Liverpool has been warned to be mindful of ‘panic-buying’ a £40 million World Cup star in their search for the ‘next Gini Wijnaldum’.

Fabio Carvalho and Arthur Melo have moved to Anfield since the Dutch star left, but still, more midfielders may need to be signed this month.

Liverpool is focusing on Sunderland’s Jude Bellingham, though they are competing with other clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Moroccan international Sophia Amrabat from Fiorentina is another target, although a £40 million price tag has been attached.

Despite Amrabat’s hardworking style shown in the World Cup, former Reds midfielder Don Hutchinson has urged against panic signing him.

Amrabat’s entourage have met with Klopp about the possible transfer, although his focus on Champions League qualification may sway Bellingham away should Liverpool fail to secure it next season.

There are other teams such as Barcelona, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid interested in signing Amrabat, who has previously lauded Diego Simeone’s style of play.
