Chelsea have reportedly made a significant move to secure the services of Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
According to reports, no specific details about the supposed offer have been disclosed, but it is expected to be ‘reasonable’.
Toney has been left out of Brentford’s squad for their first two Premier League games and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.
The 28-year-old is said to have already agreed personal terms with the Saudi Club.
Though, the deal has not been finalized yet, the allure of continuing his career in the Premier League with Chelsea may be more appealing to the 28-year-old.
Toney’s wage demands are said to align with Chelsea’s existing wage structure, and Brentford’s asking price is not expected to be a significant hurdle, especially with Toney entering the final year of his contract.
If Chelsea completes the deal before Friday’s transfer deadline, their already large squad will grow to 44 players.
However, manager Enzo Maresca has indicated that he is working with a select group within this squad.
Chelsea had initially targeted Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as their new striker but now appear focused on securing Toney as their new No. 9.
