Jadon Sancho could make his long-awaited return to Manchester United’s starting lineup this Saturday when they host Reading in the FA Cup fourth round.
The 22-year-old winger has not played since October’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea and returned to the team following a period of individual fitness training in the Netherlands.
United manager Erik ten Hag spoke of his desire for patience with Sancho, citing that receiving him back into the squad was “a step forward”.
He went on to say that a decision would be made after he trained with the team and that Saturday’s fixture against Reading could be his return.
Ten Hag commented, “He’s improving, he’s making steps and we will make the decision after training. We have a good squad, we have depth in the squad so I think tomorrow we will have a strong selection for this game.”
Aside from Sancho, there is speculation over potential loan exits by Anthony Elanga, Facundo Pellistri and Zidane Iqbal – as well as Brandon Williams. Regarding Williams, Ten Hag stated that “We have our ideas but for some players, we are open for loans but some players we are not… it’s also about him to find the moment where he can deserve his chance and take this chance.”
