The ongoing registration for Direct Entry (DE) into Nigerian universities and polytechnics has been a difficult process for many applicants.
Some have even resorted to sleeping outside the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) headquarters in Lagos in order to register.
The DE registration was originally scheduled to end on April 20 but was extended to continue after the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) ended on May 6.
JAMB has blamed the candidates for waiting until the last minute to register, but spokesperson Fabian Benjamin has assured that all candidates with purchased PINs will be registered.
The board is also implementing new initiatives to prevent the use of fake A-level results by candidates.
Acceptable A-level results for this year’s DE registration include university diplomas, OND, ND, NCE, HND, university degrees, IJMB, JUPED, NABTEB certificates, Higher Islamic Studies Certificate by NBAIS, International Baccalaureate, and National Registered Nurse/Midwife certificates.
