The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released guidelines for the admission of students returning from war-torn countries, specifically Sudan, into Nigerian universities.

The guidelines were developed in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, the National Universities Commission, and other stakeholders.

JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the need for uniform standards and minimum benchmarks for the proposed absorption, in line with global best practices.

The guidelines require returnee students to do a retroactive registration with the education ministry and upload their registration slips, admission letter, transcript, passport data page, and an affidavit confirming the authenticity of uploaded documents.

The Senate of each university has the right to decide on university transfers and does not need to wait for JAMB to initiate such transfers.
