Joao Felix has publicly expressed his desire to play with Neyamr in the past, and this could now be a reality as Chelsea have signed the Portuguese forward on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Todd Boehly’s arrival as Chelsea owner is expected to give the club renewed ambition when it comes to signing big names, with Neymar being one of the stars linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past.
Any deal for Neymar, however, would need significant funding that was ultimately unavailable.
With Felix now at Chelsea, there could be more impetus for Chelsea bosses to reignite their desire to sign Neymar and keep Felix past his six-month loan period.
The 23-year-old told TNT Sports last year that he would “definitely” like to play alongside Neymar one day and form an unstoppable duo.
“If I would like to play alongside Neymar? Of course, I would, without any doubt,” Felix said. “I think we would make a deadly duo.”
Martin Odegaard announced his move later that day, giving Chelsea an additional creative boost going into Thursday night’s game against Fulham.
According to the Premier League regulations handbook, if Felix were to feature against Fulham he had to be registered as a Blues player before 12pm on Wednesday afternoon – exactly when Chelsea confirmed his signing.
